At PMI, we continue to build the future of global financial infrastructure. Today, we are excited to announce the addition of Manuel Díaz de León like new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the company.
Manuel joins PMI at a key moment of expansion and technological innovation for the company, with the objective of strengthening the development of global financial solutions focused on the new needs of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Mexico and Latin America.
“What motivated me to join PMI was the opportunity to leverage the global infrastructure the company has built through its various products, as well as its current reach and traction, to develop financial solutions that have a real impact on millions of MSMEs in Mexico, and subsequently scale up to Latin America and the rest of the world,” said Manuel Díaz de León.
Throughout his career, Manuel has participated in digital transformation processes within the financial sector, highlighting his experience in the technological evolution of a SOFOM that would later become a bank. During that process, he led the launch of digital products such as wallets and credit cards integrated into mobile applications, driving more agile and accessible financial experiences for users.
Their arrival reinforces PMI's vision of developing financial technology with global reach, especially in a context where millions of micro-businesses and entrepreneurs require simpler, more efficient, and connected solutions to operate internationally.
Currently, microenterprises account for more than 95% of Mexico’s business sector and generate a significant portion of the country’s jobs (INEGI, 2024). However, many of them continue to face technological and financial barriers when it comes to accessing international payments, operational automation, and tools for global growth.
“International payments are part of the reality for new micro-enterprises from day one. Traditional banking solutions in Mexico no longer respond to the speed or current needs of the market. That's where PMI's capabilities can make a real difference, creating user-friendly solutions with global reach for millions of economic units,” Manuel added.
In his new role as CTO, Manuel will lead PMI's technology strategy to continue expanding the company's capabilities in international payments, financial automation, and technological infrastructure for global businesses.
With this addition, PMI reaffirms its commitment to continuing to evolve beyond payments, developing technology that enables companies of all sizes to operate without borders and compete globally.
